- Capcom announced they will be showing a strongly revised version of their System 246 arcade fighting game Capcom Fighting All Stars: Code Holder at the upcoming AOU Fair 2003.

Well, we could write all day about our pipe dreams as for how CFAS could be made better -- but how would it be revised to be made worse? If the news is indeed true, I'm treating it with some optimism.

Gah, beat me to it. Anyway, I agree, when they say "strongly revised" I'm sure it's for the better. Maybe they'll double the character roster (or at least add some more characters and "round out" the roster) or add more RS-styled gameplay.

I really can't wait for Feb 21.

Agree. Everything is perfect in RS EXCEPT the fighting game itself. floating jumps, arrrrrrh.....

Hmmmmm....interesting. True, it could be good or bad, but since we don't know til Capcom shows us, I'll just dream of good things. More unique characters or good 3D models of some of my favorite Capcom fighting characters. It would be interesting if they put Morrigan in there, since they could then no longer depend on that old 2D sprite they have been using of her for the longest time ;)

Personally, I can do without Morrigan or any other Vampire character making another lame crossover appearance. These characters truely shine in thier own series.

I've seen 2D sprites used in '3D' games before (Xenogears being a 'good' example, Clayfighters 63 1/3 being a 'very very bad' example)

So if Morrigan's in the new version, nothing on Earth is stopping Capcom from reusing her sprite.

i would be pretty damn amazed if capcom DID use her old sprite in this 3D game. it'll be even uglier because the characters are bigger so you get to see her sprite pixel by pixel. can't wait...

I was thinking more along the lines of 2-on-2 and air combos. You're right though. Besides, I have the feeling we're mostly going to see new characters. Just a hunch

Square also put an 8-Bit chocobo, an 8-Bit Airship, and an 8-bit running man in Chocobo Racing. XD

Here's an idea though. What if, Capcom DOES make this like KOF where characters are seperated by "Teams" based off their respective games. As of right now we would have:

SF2/SFA Team: Ryu, Charlie, Chun-li

RS Team: Batsu, Akira, *Another RS character?*

SF3 Team: Alex, *Two other SF3 characters?*

Codeholder Team: DD, Rook, Ingrid

Final Fight Team: Haggar, Poison, *Another FF charater*


Secret/Extra Team: Strider Hiryuu, *Two characters here*

Just a thought, if they DID do this, they'd only be adding 6 characters something they could have easily done all this time.

I played Capcom All-Stars at TGS...it was like RS but with the fun surgically removed from the fighting game engine. If they had released it in that state no one would have played it. I hope they have some major, major revisions planned that will make it something other than the mediocrity it was last I saw it.

I want Pixel Morrigan to be a secret character in the game. It's a classic.

What do you mean, the "old" sprite? There is only one, used in all the Darkstalkers, MvC, MvC2, CvS and CvS2.

Only redrawn Morrigan sprites are in Pocket Fighter and SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium...

Old as in age... like when you say "that oldlady over is my grandma!" you're not saying there is a "new" lady who is your grandma as well.

So Morigan in all those game is the 'old' sprite since it's pushing 10+ in years...
