I hear there's a group of people out there that are looking for faster downloads than BitTorrent, too. They're called "The Rest Of Planet Earth". You might want to ask them if they had any luck.
But seriously, no one uses BitTorrent because they WANT to use BitTorrent. It's the lesser of all evils. You want a faster connection? Write a worm, get yourself a nice little farm of, say, 5,000-10,000 home PCs as zombies, and join a zero-day distro group. Otherwise, you use torrents.
EDIT: Just to be clear, while I was being sarcastic, I wasn't mocking you or anything. More of a "sucks to be us" than anything else. Torrents, while not very good, are really the best thing we have. Anything else is either heavily protected or goes down way too quickly for anyone to actually use it on a regular basis.
