"The Goemon we loved is back !" , posted Sat 15 Jan 15:29 For Goemon DS, the guy who worked on the series is back, and he's not happy with the (horrible) direction the series took in his absence, so he's trying to take it back to the atmosphere and general direction of the game in the SFC era.

So THAT'S why Goemon games mysteriously started sucking. I really had no idea, and had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that it was a dead series.
