Could someone please tell me what this is about? I don't want a whole translation, just a quick explanation of what it is. A blog that I read listed it as "the changes to Lost Universe", but I'm not sure what the changes were for, or why the animation is completely redone in the comparison stills. Was Lost Universe originally something else? Or was it remade? Or...?

It seems that what was aired wasn't finished (no opening, lots of drawing strangely still, etc) and was redone for the video edition. The 4th episode was particulary hideous and stayed legendary amongst fans (and indeed, it looks like some ugly cheap american cartoons when the redone drawings are... ugly cheap japanese cartoons)
