It was an VS game out in 98, and right now I'm trying to gather a maximum of infos on it. I've found an offical site but well they didn't show any intereting stuff, so If You've played, tell me what you know about it.
thanks!

I think it was a 3D fighter made by Arika, and had various SFEX characters like Allen and Blair in it. Beyond that, no idea.

BTW whatever happened to Arika? Do they still exist?

I can probably find you a movelist or two. The character designs were actually kind of neat.

Straight from the official site, no less:
Movelist

There's stuff on the game system on that site too, if you click the links along the top. Don't expect me to translate all that though, I'm lazy and you should work on your Japanese anyway.

I might do movelists or something, though. Maybe after I wake up tomorrow.

You might already know this, but it's emulated in MAME.

They have it in an arcade done here actually. The game is rubbish. It's like SFEX, only with side stepping, arguably even lamer characters, and stupidly hard mini-bosses (e.g. a knight, a big eagle/bird and a floating shark - YES, A FLOATING SHARK - that hit you for 35% damage every time they touch you). I've seen people play it a number of times, but coudn't be bothered to play it myself.

According to the folks who play it, the ninja guy is top tier.

I played it in an Arcade in Japan. 5 Round set up, even fighting the Animals, lots of good fun.

A floating shark? Why didn't they just go all the way and put a frickin' laser beam on it's head as well? I've never played Fighting Layer but now I want to try it out just because it sounds so random.

Of course it's not a freaking floating shark. You fight it underwater. I think the legends call it "swimming" or something. And the only reason why you fought the shark was because you were so crap that you couldn't beat the knight and took the loser route.

This game is supported in ZiNc.

It also seems to like crashing beyond a certain point. I tried taking the shark route and even that didn't make it work. Boo.

I do like Janis a lot, though. And Blair, of course. Janis is pretty much the only character I was referencing with the "neat designs" part before anyway.

I found it to be mildly amusing, but it isn't the kind of arcade game I'll be getting anytime soon. Still, I had some fun with it, and that's what games are designed for, no?

It's on my list of to-get fighters, but price-wise, I think I'll grab Asura Blade and Buster first.

Well thanks for most of the infos...
And about the shark, it's a bonus stage just like the Armor, the tiger and the Hawk...

For the shark you fight under water making you really slow, that what make the combar hard. But the hawk is far harder, always in the sky where you can hardly hit him or sometimes even can't...

Red: If you can get Asura's buster, then the 1st episode asura's balde is IMO useless...
It would be like Buying SF2 when you have SF2 Turbo... The 2nd episode have just more characters, there isn't great change in the move list... And Nnami is maybe one of the crazyest boss ever.

Yeah, but there's still changes nevertheless. Everntually, I'll get both.

As for where, there's some arcade game dealers like http://www.coinopexpress.com/index.html (sorry, too lazy to switch to IE right now) that get in this stuff, and a lot of tims I get boards through Japanese PCB shops like G-Front, or Yahoo Auctions.

Ah, Coinop has them now! I hadn't checked them for it in ages, I probably should have. Thanks!

Edit: Completely off topic (not a fighting game) but have you ever heard of "Gaiapolis", Chupiler?

That was an awesome game. In general, though, fighting games (esp rare and/or shitty ones) are my priority. Looks like Coinop's got a couple of those.
