A lot of it is old stuff, stuff that we already know about that's still included for the sake of completion. But, it seems to be pretty current, up to the GBA rendition of Final Fantasy 1 & 2 (from what I know).

Yeah, the Compendium has been a fun little Final Fantasy page for a while, especially in the references section, which they update a lot as fans point things out...I think I might've even sent stuff in once. Though they'll be out of new material until FFXII (fails yet again to) come out.
