R. I. P. for Hameko, the largest videogame movie uploader site in Japan.

The administrator explains that he took down the site after his biggest work client, a "certain editorial office", warned him that grass-roots movies are competition against their DVD products, and he should be careful about what he's doing.

Now, what kind of a stingy editorial office would ever go around doing that I wonder? Hummmm.

IMO, they're choking the Japanese game market.

On the other hand, YSO is back (and therefore their sister/temporary site 主力タイトル実績一覧 bites the dust).

I never heard the site before today. Did they host combo videos/speed runs/etc? And a company told them to shut it down? Sad...

It was a great site, and I didn't use it enough... unfortunately. Hope the admins find other work...

By going through days and weeks through the process of elimination to examine the 3-5 game publishers in Japan, yeah, they're about the only one.

Bunring Ranger> They hosted everything from fighting game tournament footage to Tales of the Abyss ending. there were restrictions not to post certain things of course, but people were basically free to upload whatever they taped.

Wow... just wow.

Then Famitsu should lay down a sledgehammer against all the bloggers out there that "compete" with their magazines newsfeed.

Yay.
