Exactly, the figures come in sealed boxes so you won't know what figure you purchased until you open it. I have no idea what the appeal of that method of collecting is supposed to be.

I saw a mystery box packaged Spawn series with a checklist on the side that had all of them correctly checked for some reason once...
Here's to someone screwing these up too?

The import store here always gets hundreds of gashapon stuff like this. Lots of people collect these things for the purpose of trading. It's really the same idea as CCGs. Get random stuff, then negotiate for the ones you want with other people.

I don't think those were 'screwed up' I think the store did it so they'd sell better.
I saw a set of Star Wars Bust-Ups like that too. See Americans dislike blind boxes because it's our goddamn money goddamn it and I'll be dammned if I'm gonna spend $500000 on 2in figures I don't want to get the one I do.
So some comic shops mark them. Because it'll get joe-average toy buyer to say "OOOOH! Mini-Hinako!" and buy it rather then "$5 bucks and I don't know what it is? Fuck this..." if someone wants a blind figure they won't check the list, but this way they maxiumize sales since more people just want 1 figure not sets and chases and they're not left with a half sold box.
so if the store you saw the spawns at gets a case of these figures they'll probably be marked. Animenation however will probably keep selling them blind since it makes them more money.
Blanka and Dan make for a most excellent tag image (yeah still not funny)
