I just discovered that telnet japan actually remade the original with new 2D graphics and a costume collecting system.
naturally, it's for mobile. Even so, I got excited for a moment!

Let me tell you, beating Super Valis IV (not sure if you're talking about the same game, because the original version was a lot better) was one of the biggest wastes of time I have ever had. Totally not worth it for the like...THREE screens of ending and text you get.

Yeah, it's one of those things that you would think wouldn't be so bad in most cases, but the fact that it's hentai and has pretty crummy art and just has an otherwise incredibly generic feel to it just... ugh.
I'd kill for a(nother) 2D remake of Valis 1 or even Valis 4. Then again, I'd be perfectly happy with a collection for a modern console. The 4 PCECD games, the original version of 1 (whichever they want to put on there, maybe the MSX version rather than the PCXX) and SD Valis wouldn't be THAT hard to do right.

I did like the Valis series, even If I don't remember which one I did play or not...>_< The only I rememeber are the SD valis on Genesis, who was fun, and an other one where you have 3 Characters. The original Valis girl, A short red-haired girl, and a huge dude un a white armor... This one was great too...

I heard that the PCECD Valis games are getting ports to the PC, so that sheds a little bit of light to those who can't get access to earlier systems down there.
But I agree with the art quality. It looks like crap for the most part and I heard some of the voices are pretty bad as well.
What I find odd is how Telnet would actually give them permission to use their characters like this for profit. It's like the Valis characters have become prostitutes or something.
I hope the same thing doesn't happen with Wolfteam's Earnest Evans series. (Annet from El Viento most specifically) With Wolfteam disbanding from Telenet in the mid 90s though she won't be as easy to reach.

Well, it would be good if that rumour was true. I'm all for porn, but I too am disappointed that Telenet did this to them. The only good thing I can say about it is that I like Rogures' redesign. Grames and Megas look awful, though. Whatever happened to Megas' original HUGE self? (I used to use that art as an avatar here.. come to think of it, I think I will again. Right now!)

I have. The cinematics and music are great but the gameplay itself is crap.

To be frank, there is a possibility SNK would be going this way. From now, they have two options : either games like KOF MI manage to be successful and gather a new public to SNK, or they fail and SNK stays with the same ever shriking audience, aging and interested in the same characters they jerked upon when they were teenagers.
Days Of Memories might very well be the premise of such an evolution.

The whole Valis X thing puts me in mind of when starlets who are past their sell-by date appear in Playboy. There's a sad air of desperation surrounding the whole project since you have the feeling this is the final means the subject has for staying in the limelight for just a moment longer. Since I suspect Iggy is correct about the eventual fate of the SNKP properties we'll probably be having this same conversation again in the not too distant future.

Annet Futatabi was a Japanese only Mega CD game which was a sequel to El Viento, set during the WW2 era. The gameplay is a lot like Golden Axe in that it's a beat em up with full screen magic attacks. The gameplay is crap though. About half the time you're waiting for the bad guys to get onto the screen just so you can hit them. The cinematics and music are great though, and graphics aren't too bad.
On another note, I heard that the Valis PC ports have been out well before Valis X did.
