Old "secret" now from Atlus, finally featured in Famitsu. Princess Crown sequel for the PS2 by Jouji Kamitani himself with H. Sakimoto for the soundtrack, much like Grim Grimoire. For this May. Awe:

I'd have mentioned that it's also appearing in the US soon after the Japanese release. After failing to translate Princess Crown, you know, Atlus wants this game to change world, I read somewhere. Gotta love them.
But you're the US fella, anyhow.

yah, I already asked for more screens, but they still "can't talk about it," even though the scans have been leaked. We'll see...

What really bugs me is that the video supposedly came on PSP PC. No less.

This is the game of my dreams.
I've been waiting for years hoping that someone would make a game like this.
A single solitary tear rolled down my face when I saw those glorious sprites on top of lovingly hand crafted paralax scrolling backgrounds.

Looks better and better! My money will go into this for May. But how was Princess Crown? I didn't have the chance to play it but there's a lot of good feelings for it. The closest I got to it was from La Pucelle I guess, and that's not even really counted...

la pucelle is totally different.
basically, it's a slow action RPG. It's not amazing, the item menu is too small, and it's not especially varied in play and moves. But that said, it's gorgeous and really really charming. It's not a game to rush out and buy for its mechanics, I'd say.

Princess Crown was gorgeous but the gameplay wasn't exactly enjoyable. I will probably end up passing on this game if it still plays in a similar fashion.

There's footage of gameplay on youtube so you can get an idea of it. It's...a bit slow. Pretty but slow.

I totally agree. It's not about fighting, it's about 2D art. Some of the best bosses ever there.

Huge, too! Some of the biggest detailed 2D bosses outside of shooting, I'd say? Bonk 3 had some big bosses, as did many other platformers, but they weren't usually animated and moving.

Nah, by similiar I meant how La Pucelle's Eclair looks like Gradriel reborn!
Watching the YouTube videos, I think I'll go mad if I have to walk around the entire field just to get from point A to B. Is the entire game like that? And PCrown seems quite... food centric? I've never seen so much detail given to eating in a scrolling fighter. In Final Fight they just absorb the convenient meat and chewed gum on the floor by kneeling down and absorbing them through super osmosis

I can count at least four Princess-Gradriel revivals since the character was designed. I especially like Kohime's iteration.

Yep.

Item management and feeding is indeed an essential part of PC's combat system. Everything's in real time.

Right, so if you get hit while eating, you drop it, as I recall. It's an interesting concept, but makes things a bit slow. I do imagine they'll make this faster, and change up the system somewhat, but who can say!

It sounds like something similar to what was in Shadow of Rome where you had to furiously gnaw on food before someone attacked you. It was an interesting idea but considering I've never bothered to get very far in SoR it seems the concept wasn't enough to sell me on the entire game. As far as videogame food eating goes no one can beat the Samurai Shodown characters; they could eat food with their feet!
Odin Sphere has a fascinating look to it but I'll have to wait and see how the game plays. If it's anything like what the descriptions of the game play in Princess Crown it may end up being another one of those games that's better to look at than to play. Still, it's nice to see that the PS2 is still getting new titles.
