Its been over a year since I have watched Naruto, but I got the raw earlier today. The beginning was pretty good although awkwardly placed.
I am hoping that there will we a Wii freeloader soon so I can get the game coming out next week as well as the Hajime No Ippo game next month.

I agree. It reveals way too much for those that are not reading the manga. It looks as if the producers thought that it would be good to do something along the lines of Pulp Fiction to show how the story leads up to that point. Is Japan outsourcing the animation production?

They started with that to please the Sasuke crowd. Apparently they make up the majority of the Naruto fanbase now.
The episode was nice, but then again this part was when the manga was still good. Once they start catching up, it'll fall apart (and don't expect the anime team to pull a miracle, they'll be padding the episodes with those stupid "panel" segments).
