Old news now, but I don't think it was posted
[random news quote source=IGN] Metal Slug will also be getting the online treatment if the recently inked deal between SNK Playmore and Korean-based DragonFly (best known for its FPS Special Force) is anything to go by. Speaking at the signing ceremony on July 19th, SNK Playmore's President, Koichi Toyama, commented that "DragonFly has years of experience in developing successful online games, and it is a pleasure to announce that they will be developing an online version of Metal Slug... With this new release of a Metal Slug game, we are confident that we can approach gamers around the world with a more user-friendly and high-quality title and make them acknowledge the Metal Slug franchise, which already has a broad fanbase, even further." EDIT: Oh yeah, and Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 1 was officially released in NA retail for $15.

quote: Famitsû doesn't say anything. I thought only Guile was a statue in KOF94, but since I was wrong, and several of those were in SvC, it could be Chunli, Ryû, Guile or Gôki I guess ? Or a team of those, (no plural rule) but I'm not sure it would be a good idea.
Apart from Guile I remember Ryu, Zangief, Gouki, Balrog/Bison, Vega/Balrog and Fei Long/Bruce Lee, as well as a statue that looked like Reiji Oyama from the Power Instinct/Goketsuji Ichizoku series which might have been an alternate look for Ken, and some female.
Someone from SvC seems likely, but I doubt Gouki is it - KoF98 had 2 levels of DMs for everyone, so unless they're changing that due to Geese's Deadly Rave I don't see them downgrading the ShunGokuSatsu. Same applies to Ryu, only over the Shin Shoryuken. This is bound to be a factor for whatever choice they make...
I figure it's either Dan or Violent Ken from SvC, since they both have a few SNK elements to them - Dan's being well-known, and Ken's being the "Orochification" in that game...
Then again, they said "Capcom", not "Street Fighter", right?...
A really far-fetched possibility that comes to mind is Yun or Yang - their moves are based on Lee's from Fighter's History, to which SNKP now holds the rights, correct?...
I do wonder about something - the original SNK-Capcom agreement involved 2 fighting games from each company, right? And least that seems to have been the explanation for 1 NGPC and 1 NeoGeo game by SNK, and the 2 1/2 CvS games by Capcom (the 1/2 being CvS Pro), which apparently let SNK get away with 3 crossover card games.
Now this comes up, and I wonder if its to make things even from the CvS Pro factor, or if there's a new agreement between the companies which could lead to future joint projects...

My guess would still lead me to guess Dan. The whole history that he represents, plus would give another reason for Mr. Karate/Oyaji-related silliness once more.
Of course, if they just wanted another uber-boss to contend with the likes of Orochi and Goenitz, then maybe that might be an excuse for Red Arremer or Demitri to come about again.
