Now I know who to blame for those American covers I saw that made me not ever want to play Street Fighter when I was a little kid! Then again, I wonder who did the SFZero Fighter's Generation (Alpha Collection) art, it's weird to the extreme... Strange choices from both sides of the ocean!
PS: Thanks for posting the interview, though. A glimpse at design decisions from another age...

Actually I miss this old style of artwork, as silly as it was, compared to all the photoshop montage crap you see on most game covers nowadays. At least it was original and hand done.

I got told Bengus did them. Yes they look unusual for Bengus art. I liked his SFZ2 art the most.

While I don't think those old covers were supposed to elict the "what the hell?" reaction they often got from me they at least had personality because of how they were made.

Nice! always great to learn about the people behind the art.
His Rambo and other arts are actually convincing. Has that all-American look to it.

Wow, didn't even realize Dhalsim was in the background of the E.Honda pic. You learn something new everyday.
