It IS an april fools joke, but they did get into some effort. Props to them.
If it was real, IMO, it'd make a better TV series than a movie. The structure of a game like Zelda is more suited to be a 13 episode series (say 6 dungeons, 2 episodes per dungeon plus a finale). And the repetition is forgiveable.
As a movie, you're bound to stray from the original story and it usually ends up badly.
Blah!

Not bad for a joke trailer. A few of the scenes looked decent, and the special effects and CGI were all right. Overall I wouldn't want a live-action Zelda movie (at least not with actors like these that don't look the part, especially that Ganondorf!). Zelda should get the FFVII:AC treatment.
GAME OVER?? But I beat the game!

But of course. I just mean a film that's entirely CGI and lots of action sequences. As cliche as it is, a Zelda movie may need to become a trilogy to really portray dungeon exploration and item collection. A 90 minute movie couldn't be as effective, and a 180 minute movie is just too long for my taste.

I've never thought that the Zelda games would work as a movie but your post gave me a new way to look at the possible adaptation. If the movie dedicated a large amount of screen time to Link aimlessly plodding through the same rooms in an attempt to blunder onto the answer to the puzzle he's stuck on as well as plenty of random pot throwing it would be a great film. Totally unwatchable, but still great.

And cutting grass.

I hope The Legend of Zelda: The Movie will never be made.
