I used to post these kinds of threads all the time when I was traveling around but I've gotten out of the habit lately, not sure why! Maybe I'll just hear cricket and frog noises after I hit post!
In any event, I'll be in Los Angeles starting next Thursday 10/22 for Indiecade. I'm only there until Saturday midday but if any Cafe folk will either be at Indiecade or live in LA to start with, maybe we can meet up at some point. Just let me know!
You have to carefully reproduce the world of "Castlevania" in the solemn atmosphere.

I highly recommend you go see the Giant Robot Biennale 4 show at the Japanese American National Museum: http://www.janm.org/exhibits/grb4/
Katsuya Terada is finishing up a magnificent live drawing there today. He's exhibiting with a lot of other really great artists.
The Giant Robot 2 gallery is really great too! Worth a visit. The Sawtelle area was recently deemed an official "Japan Town" so there's a lot of great energy in the air there right now. A lot of "vibrancy."

That's definitely on my list! I'm not sure I'll have a chance to visit GR2 as well since we won't have a tremendous amount of time outside of Indiecade. Thanks for the suggestions!
I also want to visit the Broad, especially to see the building, wowee! but I'm REALLY not sure we'll have the time.
I know there are some of the pale, inferior US Bookoffs in the LA area, but I'm positive it's not worth the time.
