With SNKPlaymore's KOF series, it's been a long-time tradition for the company to hire seasoned light novelist Akihiko Ureshino to help on background stories for each of its iterations. His most recent work was in KOFXIII where he did the pre-fight character dialogues and short stories for each of the teams.
Things however are appparently going to change. The Japanese novelist disclosed on Twitter earlier that he's not involved with the latest title, KOFXIV. While Ureshino in his blog showed signs of being out of the project since it was initially announced, this confirms his standpoint.
Given that XIV will be the start of a new chapter, we'll have to wait and see who's going to be involved in its scriptwriting.
Outside of KOF, the light novelist is known for his long-running series Kuro no Hiera Glaphicos.
