After a decade since the original release on the Nintendo DS, Square Enix is bringing back its modern-world based Tokyo RPG The World Ends With You to the Nintendo Switch under the name The World Ends With You: Final Remix.
The World Ends With You: Final Remix will feature HD graphics and a new extra scenario that "gets right to the heart of the story". The trailer shows the unidentified new girl that previously appeared in the special ending of The World Ends With You: Solo Remix, the Smartphone port for iOS and Android from 2013.
The World Ends With You: Final Remix is slated for a 2018 with no specific eta announced at the current time.
Despite being a decade old, The World Ends With You hasn't aged much and most of its scenes are still present in the real-life Tokyo. The game is based on Shibuya, one of the city's main wards which also boasts other locations in recent anime and game titles including Persona5, Your Name, Alice & Zouroku, and URAHARA. As the breeding ground of pop-culture and trends, the ward became news in 2015 as the first municipality in Japan to recognise same-sex marriage.
