Journalist site Mainichi Interactive has reported that the main theme song for Square and Disney's upcoming collaborative RPG "Kingdom Hearts", will be composed and sung by J-POP vocalist Hikaru Utada, aka "Hikki".
Mainichi reports that the two companies decided on Utada, due to her wide recognition in Japan.
Utada comments that "the song is so wonderful that it carrys my name". The song titled "Hikari" (Light, in English) will also be released as a single CD by Toshiba EMI on 3/20, priced 1,100 Yen. An English rendition of the song is also in development for overseas versions.
Kingdom Hearts is scheduled for release on Playstation2 in 3/28, priced 6,800 Yen.
Special Thanks to Techside.net for the News.
Short Comment- Born in New York, Utada is a bilingual Jpop singer. And from the looks of the news, it seems like she'll be doing songs for both Japanese & English versions of the games. Oh, and in case you're wondering, "Hikaru" is a verb form of"'Hikari", so they're synonymous to each other. -H. Moriarty
