Nintendo, Sega and Namco announced today of a collaborative development on a new 3D arcade board, project name "TRIFORCE".
TRIFORCE will be a next-generation multi-purpose arcade 3D board, adopting the Nintendo Gamecube architecture as its core. This will allow effective cost performance in in creating games for both arcade and home console on the developer's side, and will result to a wider selection of game titles under one board, making the investment worthwhile for the arcade operator's side as well.
The three main goals of Nintendo, Sega and Namco's collaboration on this project are-
1. To widen the arcade videogame market
2. To create a good cost-performance arcade game development enviornment
3. To create a new system to broaden the fun between the home and arcade
A mock model of TRIFORCE and a visual display using a prototype is scheduled to be shown during the AOU show on 2/22.
Short Comment- Sounds interesting. But did they have to put that Zelda pun in its name? -"Madman" H. Moriarty
