Updated: Treasure Denies Ikaruga scheduled for Home Consoles- "Undecided at the Present" (Dengeki Online)
[ Dengeki Online | Article ]

Japanese game news site Dengeki Online has reported that Treasure has made an official comment on their arcade shooter game Ikaruga, stating that its "Ports to home consoles are undecided at the present time".

Dengeki Online reports that Treasure has not made any decision yet if Ikaruga will be ported to home console systems, and that the news spreading in Overseas sites are misinformation (DC version scheduled for 5/30, PS2 version in development). If a decision is made, an official announcement will be released in Treasure's web site.

Ikaruga is an arcade shooter on the Sega Naomi, released in December 2001 for arcades. For the original article, check Dengeki Online.

Short Comment- I've received a mail of comment from NCS(NCSX) regarding the matter, and they have been confident under legitimate reasons that the game will be released.Statement from mail goes as follows. - Henry A. Moriarty

We didn't think Ikaruga would be released for the Dreamcast but our main supplier in Japan contacted us last week to request our estimated preorder numbers for Ikaruga and we gave them a rough quantity.

Suppliers generally never ask for preorders unless they have some information from the publisher or a licensee that a game is being released on a certain platform. For example, although Playmore announced KOF 2000 for the Dreamcast, our suppliers have not opened up preorders for the game yet due to the lack of a ship date. We'll have to follow up with them in light of the Dengeki article and get their assurance and/or confirmation of this game. Thanks for notifying us of the news.

Tokyo Game show details Released, To Be Sponsored by CESA and Nikkei BP
[ CESA- Tokyo Game Show 2002 ]

The Computer Entertainment Software Association (CESA) has announced the Tokyo Game Show 2002 to take place in September 20-22, at the Japan Convention Center in Messe Makuhari (Chiba, Japan).

To boost more business activities in the convention rather than let it stay as a promotion for consumers, CESA will be opening the TGS together with business information provider, Nikkei BP (Biztech Pro). With Game software as the core feature of the show, the TGS is now scheduled to feature online services, peripherals, edutainment software, and visual & audio media to aim for a broader range of light-user audiences than in the past.

The TGS is still scheduled for once a year, but the business day has been lengthened from half a day to full day (Day1). Tickets for the convention (Day2 & 3) are available at 1000 Yen(pre-registration) and 1200Yen(at the convention). Companies to participate in the convention will be determined by 5/19.

Short Comment- Final Fantasy XI Official Walkthru- in Animated Manga Style

Square's released a brief introduction/walkthrough of Final Fantasy XI in manga format by artist Miso Suzuki, who should be familiar to readers of Famitsu. It's all in Japanese text, and worse, the words are in graphics = no use of translators... so the audience for it is limited. Still, check it out if you're interested. - Henry A. Moriarty

Short Comment- Glove on Fight (The Flash)

Ok, here's the two Macromedia Flash animations that the game from yesterday's news are based on. They're both about 4.5 Megs, so DL it if you're really interested (or really bored). - Henry A. Moriarty
