Konami releases Future Plans on Title Franchises, "Metal Gear Solid Substance" Announced
[ Konami (Report) | Impress Gamewatch (Article) ]
Konami Computer Entertainment Japan has released their future plans in the Financial report for the March 2002 term. In the report, a number of statements have been made. On the issue of constantly releasing successful titles, Konami states as follows.

"A key issue for KECJ as a producer for software for home-use games, is how to keep creating large amount of powerful contents.

The 'Metal Gear Solid' series is one of our important original titles. The most recent 'Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Libery' has been a great success, significantly strengthening the brand. Our plan is to bring out sequels at a frequency of once every two years. We also plan to introduce a second and a third original title to follow our Metal Gear Solid series. Currently we are working on strengthening our 'ZONE OF THE ENDERS (Z.O.E.)' brand and are in process of planning and producing new original titles... "

Japanese game news site Impress Gamewatch reports the new title of Metal Gear Solid to be "Metal Gear Solid Substance", announced to be released multi-platform on the PS2, XBox and PC. "Zone of the Enders 2 - The 2nd Runner" is also announced as a sequel title. In addition, research on Network games are underway, and possibilities such as "Metal Gear Online" are currently being studied.

Konami also projects to gain sales from games based on anime and manga characters such as Yu-Gi-Oh, which has already begun marketing in the States since March. Anime/Manga titles such as "Tennis no Ouji Sama" and "Hikaru no Go" are scheduled to be released as games on multi-platform in the future as well.

Short Comment- Strike a Pose for the Camera! ...KOF's Angel?

I was checking the pages of WWF's official site since I heard of the news that they changed their name to "WWE" (Web announcement Here - thanks to Dorikyasu for the link. Reuters articles Here and Here).

It's pretty amazing to see that WWF was still around (and even doing better than in the 80's), but it's even more astonishing to see "The Immortal Clutz" Hulk Hogan still in action.

On a side note, I found this picture
[ Here ] that strikingly resembles the pose of KOF2001's Angel. Huumnnn... Brezza's designers weren't influenced by any chance, were they?

Short Comment- The Pepsi-Cola Blues

Photo: Reuters

What a weird idea Pepsi came out with. Couldn't they have introduced something better, like Peppermint Pepsi or something?

(Reuters, quoted)
"PURCHASE, New York (Reuters) - Pepsi-Cola has unveiled a bright blue cola, Pepsi Blue, as the soft drink giant adds to its carbonated lineup to perk up sluggish cola sales.
The berry-flavoured cola targeted to teens follows a number of recent carbonated soft drink debuts from Pepsi-Cola. It will also follow the mid-May launch of Vanilla Coke from top competitor Coca-Cola.

Pepsi-Cola North America, a soft drink arm of PepsiCo, said on Tuesday that Pepsi Blue is "a fusion of berry and cola" flavours and will hit store shelves by early August.

'This is a critically important juncture for Pepsi and Coke as they both introdce major cola line extensions,' said John Sicher, editor of industry newsletter Beverage Digest. 'The issue is, will these moves return growth to their huge trademark cola businesses?' "
