Major software producer Square has announced that the Windows version of their latest PlayStation2 release- Final Fantasy XI, will begin beta testing starting June 18th.
During the beta test, the Windows version users of FFXI will be playing on a dedicated test server, distinct from the Playstation2 servers. The basic PlayOnline services such as Chat, messenger, and mail are an exception, and will run under the PS2 servers.
In the product version, the Windows version users will be able to play on the same game servers as the PS2 users, allowing each other to interact. In addition, user accounts of the Windows version can be used on the PS2, and vice versa.
Sign-up for the beta testing will begin on June 17th (Monday).
