In a recent interview conducted by Enterbrain Inc. to Capcom vs SNK 2 producer Noritaka Funamizu, Funamizu has revealed that CvS2 is the first in the line-up of a "Library Scheme" which focuses in simultaneous multi-platform game releases, first announced during the analysts strategy meeting last year.
By developing "libraries" to convert games from system to system, Capcom can create ports in short time. As in the case of CvS2 where the library was still in development and its usage was being practiced, the port from the DreamCast version to PlayStation 2 was possible in one month. Conversion of Capcom's games to other consoles such as Nintendo's GameCube and Microsoft's XBox are also possible with the new library scheme, according to Funamizu.
Funamizu also revealed that Capcom vs SNK 2 will be playable cross-platform on the DreamCast and PlayStation 2, with the use of Capcom's KDDI network.
As a side note, the "SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters2 Expand Edition" scheduled for released by SNK in September for the NeogeoPocket Color, will be connectable to the DreamCast version of CvS2. It is unknown what extra bonuses will be available with its use.
