Square has announced to begin a campaign for character designs in their hit series "Hanjuku Hero" (Half-boiled Hero). Originally a series which began from the Famicom and later received a sequel on the Super Famicom, Hanjuku-Hero is a comedic simulation RPG game with a dense main character who posseses a special egg that summons monsters into the battle scene.
The campaign for new summon Egg monster designs is opened for entry through internet and postal mail. Designs entries through internet (scheduled to be opened soon in PlayOnline.com) will accepted up to 8/2, and postal mail will be accepted until 8/24 (postmarked). Each entree must include the egg monster's name, description, illustration, and two methods of attacks. Multiple entrees are allowed, but only one monster per each entry. The campaign prize has not yet been revealed.
Other than the Campaign itself, nothing is announced of the sequel except that the director will be Takashi Tokita (Final Fantasy 4, Chrono Trigger). Quoted by Tokita, "Let's burn our hot souls that we've forgotten, during all these innovations in hardware and CG".
Short Comment- I'm a great fan of the Hanjuku Heroes series. The SFC version featured DragonQuest's Kouichi Sugiyama as the music composer, and it was quite fun.... except for the major bug at the end. -H. Moriarty
